Default Local Business Office Seminars

When I registered my business at my local Ontario business office the municipality's economic development department asked if I would like to be on their mailing list. They share the office. I said sure, I could use all the help I could get starting off a new business.

Once per month they send an e-mail, usually with an invitation or two to various business-related seminars. This month I was finally able to sign up for one that didn't conflict with my schedule and offered some value to my business. Its Tips from the Auditor. A tax auditor from Revenue Canada will be offering tips on income tax returns, acceptable expenses, record keeping, and how to survive a tax audit. What a great seminar for those business owners that decide to tackle their own taxes (such as yours truly).

I think its great that my local municipality has this kind of service in place and I recommend any new (under 5 years) business owner looks to see if their city offers a similar service.

Hi, I don't have my own company but I find it a good idea to have such seminars, to educate yourself especially if you do your own taxes...

It is a great idea, I admit but I can't do my own taxes, it is too much for me to take it…

I don't have the patience, the time and the knowledge to do my business or even personal taxes (they are tied to the business taxes anyway). It doesn't cost that much to hire a competent accountant to do the taxes for you once a year as long as you keep good records of all your financial transactions.

I am permanent employee and H&R Block do my tax preparation. There is nothing complicated in my taxes I guess but I don’t have time to do them by myself.
