Default career advice

Hello, I work in the biotech industry and although I went to college I never actually finished my degree. Before I never had a problem because it is hard to find people who do what I do. But now, with all the layoffs there are more people in the pool looking for a job and I am having a harder time explaining why I didn't finish. However, everyone is always impressed by the amount of experience I have so I think I can still bring something valuable. The reason I didn't finish is I was going through depression and social isolation which interferred with my school work at the time. What's the best way to explain this without going into psychoanalysis? What kind of wording would you use?
