Thumbs up Jobs in the mining industry?

Hello, I would like information about jobs in that area, I've always heard that it's a tough job and that many people would not last a day working as a miner. Is it as hard as they say? I am 21 year old and I've been told that you can earn a decent amount of money in northern parts of Canada working in the diamond mines. I would appreciate if any of you, who have been working in that area or know someone who does, shared your experiences as to whether it was worth working as a miner, how you managed to do that job ( was it hard or not) etc.. Thanks!
