Default Student thinking about Accounting - Any Advice?

Here's what I think... I think accounting is the most important major a young person should study today. Accounting and money management are not only good for one’s career, but are life skills that benefit young people in many ways. Accounting is one of the fastest growing careers today. Accounting is a versatile major that allows you to work in a variety of fields. With an accounting background you can go into auditing, budget analysis, or tax work. Also with an accounting degree you can work for the government or you can work for a big corporation. A trained accountant can easily make over a hundred thousand dollars a year.

I feel that accounting is essential to anything that you do in life. Knowing how to keep track of your money and how to handle it well is something a lot of people take for granted. A lot of people don’t know how to manage their money, or even know the importance of how managing it will benefit them in the future. Being financially stable is essential to getting your life in order. Many people grow up not learning the importance of money from their parents or the school system. In Canada millions of people are in debt because of credit cards, student loans, car, and house payments. This is part of the problem I currently have. Trying to go to school isn't cheap, but it looks like there are quite a few scholarships available to accountants

I agree with you that people are in debt because they can't manage their money and don't know simple arithmetic but it doesn't necessarily mean that we all have to study accounting. Accounting is very boring and is not for everybody.
