I recently interviewed at two companies. Company #1 said I was "perfect" for the job but two weeks have passed and I haven't heard anything. I called (about a week ago) and they said some people have been out of town and I am "high" on the list. Company #2 has made an offer but I am more interested in company #1. Should I call company #1 and tell them I got an offer somewhere else but would like to get an offer from them before I make a decision? I have been in a situation where I was "high" on the list for another job only to be dropped just because I interviewed somewhere else. I don't want that to happen here.
I would call them. In the past I had an opposite experience. I called the first company because they were delaying their decision and told them I have a job offer from some other company. They hired me the next day. So it all depends on the people you talk to...
