Immigration from the US
What process does a US resident have to go through to become a Canadian citizen?
Is it a different process than people from other countries have to go through? |
No, it is the same. There is no difference, everyone are treated equal when applying for Canadian citizenship. The only difference is that it is faster. :)
The approximate waiting time, if you apply from USA is from 6 months to 1 year, compared to other embassies. It all depends on how busy the embassy is. In some countries people wait 2 - 3 years to go on an interview…. |
A friend of mine, also from Poland, applied to immigrate to Canada, from USA last year and all his documents were ready in 1 year. He will be coming to Canada this summer too. I waited 2 1/2 years for the visa and I will be coming this summer too. It is definitely faster applying from US.
