career advice

Hello, I work in the biotech industry and although I went to college I never actually finished my degree. Before I never had a problem because it is hard to find people who do what I do. But now, with all the layoffs there are more people in the pool looking for a job and I am having a harder time explaining why I didn't finish. However, everyone is always impressed by the amount of experience I have so I think I can still bring something valuable. The reason I didn't finish is I was going through depression and social isolation which interferred with my school work at the time. What's the best way to explain this without going into psychoanalysis? What kind of wording would you use?

I think the way you explained it here is very good. Nobody needs to know more. btw why don't you finish school now if you think it is a problem to find a job?

I want to go back but money is an issue right now.

Yeah I was wondering why you don't look into maybe finishing it online course by course or something if it is just theory work and not lab work?

I think in this circumstance it is ok to say you were faced with some personal matters that had to be dealt with. It was a hard choice to leave school and deal with them but in the end it was the best choice. That leaves it wide open...

Then you follow up with all the experience you do have in the feild and show how postive it turned out for you.
