Immigration from the US

What process does a US resident have to go through to become a Canadian citizen?
Is it a different process than people from other countries have to go through?

No, it is the same. There is no difference, everyone are treated equal when applying for Canadian citizenship. The only difference is that it is faster. :)
The approximate waiting time, if you apply from USA is from 6 months to 1 year, compared to other embassies. It all depends on how busy the embassy is. In some countries people wait 2 - 3 years to go on an interview….

A friend of mine, also from Poland, applied to immigrate to Canada, from USA last year and all his documents were ready in 1 year. He will be coming to Canada this summer too. I waited 2 1/2 years for the visa and I will be coming this summer too. It is definitely faster applying from US.
