possibility of a months electrician work?
 

Hi I am a 35 year old english electrician & am considering emergrating to canada although i have never visited

what is the possibility of being able to come over with my family & get a job somewhere for ,say a month to get a feel for the place ?

I can't speak for everyone but I would say your chances are pretty slim to none. Although there are exceptions, generally speaking you must have an electrical license for the province you want to work in or be a registered apprentice to work on electrical equipment.

It's improbable that someone would want to hire an out of country Electrician for such a short period of time. As with any new employee there is always a learning curve. You'd just be getting your feet wet then you'd be leaving. As with most areas we have numerous rules, regulations, and laws to comply with in the electrical industry. Don't forget your arc flash gear if you intend to work on or be in the vicinity of live electrical equipment. And how well do you know the Canadian Electrical Code? Just a couple of things to consider.

My family immigrated from England back in 1977, my Dad is also an Electrician. He said it was the best thing he ever did.
