Where to start?

hello,

i'm from belgium and i will come to canada (end of aug / beginning of sept 2009) with a working holiday visum (validity: 12 months).
the visum allows you to work for short periods and travel around the country with the extra money you've earned.

i'm looking forward to explore canada, meet new people, improve my english skills, ...

BUT:

1. where should i start? which place is the best to start my trip?

2. i studied journalism & my current job is teaching dutch to foreigners.
i'm not lookin' to make big business in canada, jobs i'm interested in: waitress (at a bistro / restaurant), receptionist, working at a pub (in the evenings), travel journalism, a job in the field of tourism, a job where i meet lots of people, ...
which way do i easily find these kind of jobs?
(is it hard these days to find a job in the branches i prefer?)

3. i would love to learn how to ski (i never did winter sports). any ideas to combine a job with getting skiing lessons in winter? (any tips for places to visit in winter)?

PS: i LOVE the country side (any tips to visit beautiful places in summer/fall?)

many thanks in advance to take time to read my questions,
Jolene:)

Hey,
If you`re looking for a place to ski you`d probably want to go with Alberta or British Columbia. My step-sister lived in Banff, Alberta for a couple years and since it`s a tourist town I think you should be able to find a job (and ski!) From what I understand though, living expenses are kind of high there. What do I know, I`m from Manitoba.:p
